The Australian Walking and Cycling Conference Scholarships

The Australian Walking and Cycling Conference (AWCC) Scholarships are designed to support people who are committed to improving and transforming the places we live, our economies and how we engage with our environment through walking and cycling.  The AWCC Scholarships provide some financial support to cover expenses during the conference time period.

Types of Awards

  • The AWCC Award for local people from Adelaide (free registration and dinner)
  • The AWCC Award for people from rural SA or interstate (up to a maximum of $400 for flights and accommodation etc.)

Eligibility

The purpose of the award is to support people who contribute to developing walking and cycling but are not able to attend due to financial pressures or hardship. Eligible people should be able to demonstrate an interest and engagement in areas related to walking and cycling such as liveability, public health, community building, economic development and/or environmental sustainability. This year, preference will be given to those whose activities or research relate to children’s health and wellbeing.

To Apply

To apply for a scholarship, please provide a one page document outlining how you meet the eligibility criteria, including a description of your personal circumstances and the area in which you work, study or volunteer that contributes to walking, cycling and children’s health and wellbeing. Submit your application to the AWCC committee via e-mail (papers@walkingandcycling.com.au) prior to 31 July 2019.

Applications will be reviewed by the AWCC committee, with scholarships announced at the end of August.
